Christian Scott aTunde Ajuah is a jazz musician originally from New Orleans, and his 2015 release Stretch Music was not only the #1 Jazz album in 22 countries, it was also part of an amazing app that allows musicians and music students the ability to change the mix so they can play right along with the musicians on the record. Scott is also dedicated to the Guardians Institute, a New Orleans non-profit that gave 44,000 books as well as numerous life-skill seminars to under-served youth in his hometown last year alone.

We spoke to Christian via phone while he was preparing to leave Manhattan for the airport, so the conversation's audio is a bit sketchy at times, but his story, and what he has to say about music and the culture at large are well worth dealing with the cell phone limitations. Enjoy!
