Missing USB digital inputReturned. For desktop users, USB input is quite convenient, including playing MQA music by other apps, like foobar2000. I wish USB input back.

StunningI'm sure some firmware updates are in the pipeline so I'm only going to refer to the sound quality performance, which is to put simply stunning. The soundstage height is seemingly limitless, I can close my eyes and there's no limit to the height and width of the soundstage but it's the height that's blowing my mind. The speakers completely disappear behind a wall of sound that extends in every direction, height width and depth. There is every bit of detail and you can follow the instruments and textures independently or take in the presentation as a whole live performance. Everything sounds alive, it doesn't sound like a stereo, there is life to a good recording, it makes me want to listen to more instrumental and less pop style electronic music because the instruments sound so real and dimensional. The bass is as deep, punchy, tight and extended as can be desired from a small box. I can't imagine how much more you would have to spend to improve the sound quality from what is essentially a perfect stereo at this state of technology. Highly recommended.

great sound quality, poor computer connectivityI've been getting to know my new speakers. These are going to replace my x300a's that I've used since they came out as my computer speakers. I work from home & my use is essentially split between listening to music, watching youtube videos and video conferencing.
The lack of USB connectivity has been vexing, I can connect via AirPlay, but the lag is a big problem for video conferencing. Also, volume and mute keyboard controls work most of the time, but not all of the time. The other issue is I am on VPN a decent share of the day - I think there is a way to poke holes for AirPlay, but it is a project.
I've been looking at USB-SPDIF converters as a potential solution. I don't like that I wouldn't have volume control, but I'm expecting it to solve the latency issue. There are a range of devices that do this job - wondering still if I'm missing something obvious. I contacted KEF support for advice and total crickets for 3 days now.
My only other gripe with the speakers is the annoying strum noise they make when they power on (annoying, but fine) and when they power off!!! Like, when its 2am and I am headed to bed. I turn off the speakers and in response they play a sound? I am turning it off... I clearly don't want sound to come out.Posted on

Nice upgradeI owned the original LS50W and sold them to upgrade to the new version. The good news is they sound better and the app is better. The streaming options and performance from the app is significantly better than the original version. The improvement in the sound is is a nice refinement in clarity, detail and effortless presentation. As good as the original is, the new version offers a worthwhile improvement. The not so good news is that the LS50II is not Roon Certified. The inability to use the LS50WII with Roon is a disappointment and a step down in convenience from the original version. KEF tells us this situation will be fixed "soon". BTW. Roon is available via AirPlay or Chromecast but this is not how I listen to Roon. Fortunately KEF did improve their app so while I am waiting for Roon I am able to easily access my streaming services. Again, great sound and a good app but please get the Roon Certification issues worked out.
