Great sounding speakersI have purchased quite a few Speakers over my lifetime.I currently own a pair of Def Tech BP 6002 great sound, a pair of Paradigm monitors 60v3 great speakers, Bose 901 series IV, I just Purchased a pair of KEF Q950 still breaking them in, These are a little brighter, bottom end is good, wide sound stage, because of the array of the rear facing drivers in the Def technology they seem to have a little more wider sound stage, different speakers though.

Amazing ValueBeen using a pair of q950s with a q650c on my Marantz 5015 Receiver and I love them. The mids and lows are where they shine. Honestly some of the most value packed loudspeakers on the market. If you’re wanting something entry level and not too expensive but premium still, they are a great option. Plus, they look GORGEOUS. I’m very satisfied with my purchase and I think you will also.

Completes My Audiophile SystemAfter a great deal of research based on reading audio/video publications, watching YouTube reviewers (love Steve Guttenberg, the Audiophiliac), and actually listening to different speakers live in stores, I picked these speakers up a few days ago. I have been spending hours enjoying my favourite tunes from all genres: classic rock; pop; electronica; jazz; classical, etc. and these speakers do it all!!! I’m now hearing things that I never heard before from the descent 20 year old 2-way speakers I’m replacing or any other audio setup I heard previously: The wide sound stage; imaging precision; detail in the treble and mid range (from a single Uni-Q point source); seamless crossover in the 2.5 way design, and depth in the full bass range through a combination of an active driver and 2 passive radiators in a closed cabinet creates an atmosphere of sound that is simply captivating. After testing the sound with and without my subwoofer, I realized that a subwoofer is now optional. At 91 DB sensitivity, my Q950s are paired nicely to a Denon high current 4-8 ohm 100W/channel @8 ohm stereo network amplifier that drives them beautifully. By the way, I called KEF after setting up my speakers to learn more about their speaker engineering and general philosophy around accurate reproduction of source material. I was pleasantly surprised to be speaking to someone on the other end of the phone who knows about their product at a deeply technical level and he gave me very satisfying responses! That says a lot about the company’s dedication, culture, and their people. Folks, my audiophile system is now complete and I look forward to many years of enjoyment ahead of me. Thank you for the incredible design, engineering, and assembly work on this fine product KEF!!!

Musical NirvanaI am an economically constrained audiophile. That is to say that I can recognize good quality sound but my purchasing is restricted by my financial limitations.
This is the very first time that you will see a review of this amplifier paired with these particular speakers anywhere.
Ah well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
And what a gamble it was.....and I hit the jackpot!
I have been on the hunt for a nice stereo system since I was 21 years of age.
At 67, I can unreservedly state that I have finally achieved auditory Nirvana!
Oh! Where do I begin?......
The NAD C388 is rated for a conservative continuous power output of 150 Watts per channel at 8 Ohms of impedance. Whilst the KEF Q950 speakers are a perfect match, rated for an amplifier between 15 and 200 Watts. My newly acquired speakers have finally met and married the perfect amplifier.
Those who are in the market for, or already own this remarkable amplifier have no idea what lies in wait for them, until they pair it up with these wonderfully capable speakers. These KEF Q950s are worth every hard earned penny I have expended on them.
The rich velvet-smooth bass (from what reviews that I have read, the lack of bass is a common but incorrect complaint of the NAD C388 Amplifier. It just requires good speakers) and soprano type treble and the alto like mid range conspire to give you a musical experience that is heavenly.
In fact bass and treble had to be turned down to “flat” and the now utterly redundant sub woofer, disconnected!
I can without reservation, absolutely recommend the marriage between a NAD C388 Amplifier and a set of KEF Q950 English speakers.
If you like me, love listening to distortion free music of any type at any volume, look no further.

Worth the investmentAfter years of satisfaction with my vintage EPI 360's, it was time to update.
After considerable reviews and listening rooms, the Q950's were selected.
The separation, and wide dispersion brings the subtle nuances within the music to notice.
Well worth my time and money.Posted on

These speakers will give you an enjoyable time of listening. It replaced the old Q70 ( Made in England) that I enjoyed for many years. Q950 has a more solid and deeper bass. The midrange sounds so natural. All the improvements that was claimed by this speakers are true to the sound that it produce. You'll be immerse in the emotion of the music that you love to listen. Don't take my words for it, give it a try yourself. Happy listening

Q950 Loudspeaker Review - Hi-Def Digest |
"I adore the Q950 towers. They are, quite honestly, the best KEF Q Series speakers ever made, blending clear, transparent vocal tones and room-pressurizing bass. They destroy the capabilities of the old iQ9 towers and should receive an honorary membership to the KEF R Series because they sound a lot more expensive than $1,800/pair.” |
